This item is a report on the proceedings of a workshop on school-business relationships and the new Auckland Council, held on June 23, 2010.  COMET is hosting a series of workshops with key stakeholder groups on how Auckland can best shape the relationships needed to make a difference to the skills future of Auckland. The report reflects the input of Gateway co-ordinators and not-for-profit groups who work in the school-business space.

In February 2002, COMET released the results of a ‘stock-take report’ prepared by the University of Auckland about the connections between businesses and schools in Manukau. That research was undertaken more than five years ago. Has anything changed? This Discussion Paper was prepared for the Manukau Education Conference 2007

This report was prepared by COMET on behalf of the Future Skills Demand Action Plan Steering Group, led by Manukau City Council, and included the Manukau Institute of Technology, Department of Labour, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development and the Tertiary Education Commission. It is part of a response to the Future Skills Demand Project report by Council that highlighted the skills and knowledge gap that will be is evident if no action is taken over the next couple of years.
