COMET must present a Statement of Intent to Manukau City Council annually. The Statement of Intent (SOI) identifies the Purpose and Objectives of the Trust and outlines the programme of work and performance measures to be adopted.
The Statement of Intent also outlines the KEY FUNCTIONS of the Trust. They are:
Leadership
- Community and educational leadership is a shared responsibility. Our function is to provide leadership for city-wide projects, as well as to build the educational leadership capacity in our community
Brokerage
- A well-connected community helps all people to access education and employment. A broker builds collaborations and connections among stakeholders.
Research and Communications
- How do we know that we are getting good value from the taxpayer spend on education? How can we make best use of the resources we have? We all need to know and understand the issues facing education in our city, and to take shared actions that help our young people achieve. We need, therefore, a platform of understanding about the educational issues confronting our city's communities.
Advocacy
- Advocacy builds opportunities for the city. Our role is to make the voice of Manukau heard in policy-making. Manukau also needs to connect its initiatives with central government strategies. An advocacy function helps to communicate needs to all audiences.
